About eyelash extensions

Eyelash extensions have become very popular among the everyday woman and men, too. Although eyelash extensions are loved by many, still there is a bit of misunderstood information and terminology in the market. Please read below and browse through the rest of the website to fully understand eyelash extensions and how they are applied.

What are Xtreme Lashes? Novalash? Minks? Permanent Lash Extensions?

Please do not be confused with understanding the difference between a lash extension service and a brand. There are many brands on the market such as Xtreme Lashes, Novalash, 3D Lash, etc... Permanent Eyelash Extensions. Make sure you choose a lash stylist based on experience and referrals. Also, make sure your stylist has not just experience with eyelash extensions, but also the brand she/he is working with. After all, these are your eyes and it should take skill, experience and expertise to give a premium Ppofessional service. Remember "Practice makes Perfect."

What are Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions?

Xtreme Lashes® are semi-permanent eyelash extensions composed of single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are virtually weightless and curved to replicate a natural eyelash. Lashes are applied directly to the individual natural eyelashes, one at a time. Available in over 600 varieties, including various lengths, thicknesses, curvatures and colors, there are endless options for design. The result is a long-lasting and natural-looking extension of your natural beauty. "An eye opening experience."

Are Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions Safe?

Xtreme Lashes® products, application procedure, and adhesives are exclusively developed to the highest standards for safety, quality, and performance by a team of scientists, physicians and expert lash stylists. The primary ingredient in the adhesive is the same used by plastic surgeons in the U.S. for suture-less wound closure. Eyelash extensions are never applied directly to your eyelids therefore will not harm your eyelids or natural lashes. I am a licensed cosmetologist of 25 years and also successfully completed rigorous, comprehensive, hands-on training with Xtreme lashes. During this pain-free procedure, you will recline comfortably with your eyes closed throughout the application, which many woman describe as their "midday beauty rest."

How long does the procedure take?

Depending on the number of eyelashes applied, a full set (approximately 60-90 lashes per eye) will take 90 to 120 minutes to complete. Re-lashes, every 2-4 weeks after, take 60 approximately minutes.

How do I prepare for my procedure?

Do not curl your lashes or wear any mascara. Remove all eye make-up with a mild, water-based cleanser. Eyelids and eyelashes must be completely clean and dry.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

When properly applied and maintained, Xtreme Lashes ® eyelash extensions can last indefinitely with touch-ups done every 2-4 weeks. A natural lash typically falls out every 60-90 days and is replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. At any given moment, each of your natural eyelashes is at a different stage of its life cycle. As your natural lashes shed, the extensions that are attached also shed, and new lashes begin to grow. With re-lashes, new extensions are added to the newest lashes to replace those that have shed to maintain a full, natural look. Wake up to longer, thicker and fuller lashes every day!

What type of eyelash training has your specialist received?

First and foremost in New York State only a cosmetologist, estheticians. or a nurse can apply eyelash extensions. Don't be embarrassed to ask to look at credentials. These are your eyes! Xtreme lash stylists have been trained by some of the top eyelash stylist at Xtreme lashes. An extensive training class is conducted for 3 days to receive a level 1 training certificate. After 6 months of applying lashes, serious lash stylist will get their certification certificate and experience is of the essence. Xtreme lashes will not sell products to lash stylist without going through the training program. This regulates who can purchase their products, which keeps every one at least at level 1 training level. Experience the best service with eyelash extensions , so find out how long your lash specialist has been in the industry. It takes time and practice to build speed and maneuver hand manipulations. Just because a lash specialist has received certified training from a popular eyelash company does not make him/her one of the best in the industry. I have seen many poor lash jobs and I always say to myself this person needs a little more practice. Just remember, It is not always best to go with the popular brand name, experience is the best teacher.

How lashes are applied...

How Eyelash Extensions Are Applied by Xtreme Lashes

Eyelash extensions application: a short introduction from Xtreme Lashes. Single strands of synthetic lashes are applied one by one to your natural lashes for a longer, thicker, fuller look.

Eyelash History

The first eyelash extensions...

Beauty legend has it that American movie director D.W. Griffith designed the first set of eyelashes, while creating a motion picture in 1916. He wanted his leading lady Phillis Haver to have eyelashes so long that they graced her cheeks when she blinked or looked down.

Then a wig master went to work creating the long luxurious eyelashes out of human hair and gauze. The result was a movie magic! Unfortunately the film was not a huge hit, and the screenplay became unforgettable. However, false eyelashes were remembered to the misfortune of Griffith who never formally made a claim to their fame and his idea was ultimately simulated, stolen, and altered in the decades thereafter.

Since 1916 there have been many leading ladies and celebrities who have used false eyelashes. Twiggy is an example of someone in the spotlight who used falsies in the way that they were intended. Eyelashes have always been a statement for the "The Art of a Lady". They have been used on cartoon characters such as Betty Boop, Judy Jetson, Miss Piggy, and Olive Oil (Of Popeye). Television characters such as Lucy (I Love Lucy), Samantha (Bewitched), Genie (I Dream of Genie), and Ginger from Gilligan's Island are just some of the first few who have been glamorized by wearing eyelash extensions. Today eyelash extensions are the fastest growing beauty trend in the world. Today most celebrities and TV stars have falsies.

Eyelash extensions and today...

Eyelash extensions are synthetic lashes that are attached to an individuals naturals lashes using a special adhesive. The lashes come in different lengths, curls and thickness' (and colors too!) which makes it possible to customize the application. Manufactured by hand or by machine, most eyelash extensions are made from polyester to imitate human lashes and other materials such as mink or silk. Real mink fur as well as human hair are also used but loose the curl when they get wet.

Formally created in Asia in the late 1990's this beauty trend has made its mark around the world. Eyelash extensions were once a beauty secret to Hollywood but now is becoming a welcomed addition to the everyday woman's and men's beauty regiment. The popularity of extensions continue to grow as it is the most innovative way to add length and volume to your own natural lashes with the need for mascara.
